Dr. Kathleen Smith Joins ACHSFebruary 19 2013 - Press Release
Ammonoosuc Community Health Services is pleased to announce that Dr. Kathleen Smith has joined their team of Family Practice physicians. She will have clinic hours at the Littleton Care Delivery site beginning in early March.
Dr. Smith brings many years of experience to the health center. She is a native of Littleton, graduating from Littleton High School and Bennington College. She earned her MD from the University of Washington in Seattle and completed her residency in Family Medicine at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. After practicing for two years in Pennsylvania, she returned to Littleton and opened a solo practice in 1984, eventually forming Summit Medical Group. Dr. Smith is board certified in Family Medicine and holds a Certificate of Qualification in Geriatrics. Additional professional interests are Chronic Disease Management, Medical Acupuncture and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.
“As a family physician, I try to think beyond the health of the person in the exam room, extending to the family unit, where possible. Working at a community health center, like ACHS, allows me to have a positive impact on the community through primary preventive health care,” says Dr. Smith in regards to joining ACHS.
“We are delighted that Dr. Smith has joined our team. She brings a wealth of experience to the health center, is well known and well respected among her peers, patients and the community at large,” notes Ed Shanshala, Executive Director of ACHS.
Dr. Smith lives with her husband, Jeffrey, in Littleton. When not caring for patients, she can be found walking, curled up with a book, or in her garden, trying to outwit deer and woodchucks.
If you are interested in becoming a patient of Dr. Smith, ACHS New Patient registration forms can be found on-line at www.ammonoosuc.org or call the New Patient coordinator at 1-866.201.5076.
